2009 Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists Showcase Selected Artist
Singer-songwriter Robyn Landis is a rapidly emerging artist whose more than 40 songwriting honors just since 2005 herald the beginning of a musical trajectory to watch. An avid and prolific writer since very early childhood, Robyn is apublished author, a passionate activist, and a highly literate enthusiast of words and song.
Robyn's powerful command of language and her deft marriage of melody, lyric and emotion have earned her quick recognition as a respected songsmith, garnering comparisons to Richard Shindell, Dar Williams, and Gillian Welch and a reputation as "an amazing lyricist."
Her courageous, heartfelt and intelligent songs reflect unusual depth and literacy. Her unpretentious and intimate vocals infuse her irresistible, memorable melodies with warmth and feeling. Her stage presence is sometimes shy, sometimes outspoken, but always vulnerable and genuine.
After performing and recording with the duoShort & Sweet for six years, and earning accolades in songwriting competitions and at festivals all over the country, she released her first solo CD "Many Moons" in May 2009, featuring 12 new songs radiating a trademark honesty and intensity, and accompanied by a stellar cast of world-class musicians.
